1. who can use the car?
The vehicles are only rented to drivers between the ages of 21 and 65. The driver must have held a valid B class driving license for at least two years. The use of the vehicle by persons on the "accompanied driving from 17" program is not permitted. The vehicle may only be driven by the drivers specified in the rental agreement. If the vehicle is driven by persons other than those specified above, the fee specified in the rental agreement will be charged for each additional driver.
2. what do i need to rent?
The renter must present an identity card or passport and a valid domestic driving license required to drive the vehicle. These will be copied and added to the documents. A deposit is also due. When picking up the vehicle, the original driving license of any additional drivers must be presented.
3. How much is the deposit?
The deposit is € 500. This is paid after conclusion of the rental contract in the form of a SEPA direct debit mandate. A copy of your ID and driving license is also required.
Provided the car is returned in a clean and perfect condition, the deposit will be refunded in full.
4. Where do I pick up and return the car?
After signing the rental agreement, the renter receives the VW E-Golf car key and instructions from a member of staff at the tourist information office. The car and the key must be picked up and returned in person at the Ostseecamping Fam. Heide campsite.
5. How does the reservation work?
The renter can reserve the electric car by calling the tourist information office on +49 (0)152572 96 486 every day during opening hours from 9:15 - 13:30 and 14:30 - 18:00 or by sending a simple email to info@waabs.de. In addition to the reservation date, first and last name, date of birth, full home address and telephone number must also be provided.
6. Is there a limit to the rental period?
No. The prices per day/week can be found in the price list. Depending on availability, you can extend the rental period, for which there is a processing fee of €15.
7. What happens if I exceed the planned rental period?
If the tenant exceeds the planned rental period, the landlord reserves the right to withhold part of the deposit or to claim the additional rental costs incurred directly on site. The grace period granted is 15 minutes.
If the electric car is not returned on time due to a traffic jam, breakdown, accident or other unforeseeable reasons, the tourist information office must be informed immediately. If the vehicle is returned late without prior notice, any costs incurred will be passed on to the renter by invoice.
8. Can I cancel/rebook my reservation?
Up to one hour before the pick-up time shown in the current reservation, a change to the booking is possible for a rebooking fee of €15.
A refund of any advance rental payments already made/refund of any difference will not be made if the booking is changed. The customer can cancel a booking before the pick-up time shown in the current reservation. Cancellation is free of charge up to 24 hours before rental. From 24 hours before rental, a cancellation fee of 80% of the first day's rental will be charged.
9. Where can I charge my car at the Fam. Heide campsite?
The charging station (free of charge) is located in the large parking lot in front of the tourist information office.
Charging is generally not permitted on the campsite.
Please note the following:
- The maximum parking time for charging is 2 hours.
If you stay longer than 1 hour, you will be charged for parking from the first minute. The fees are to be paid at the parking machines or at the tourist information office.

- During the midday rest from 13:00 - 15:00 and night rest from 22:00 - 6:00 you can use the parking lot free of charge.
10 - What happens if the car breaks down due to insufficient battery charge?
The renter is responsible for regularly checking the charge status of the electric car during use and is liable for all direct/indirect costs incurred.
11. What should I do in the event of an accident?
In the event of an accident, the renter is obliged to secure the scene of the accident sufficiently, to take care of any injured persons and to call the police and, if necessary, the emergency services to the scene of the accident.
The renter is then obliged to inform the tourist information staff about the accident. At the scene of the accident, the name(s) of the driver(s) of the vehicle and the license plate number(s) of the other party must also be recorded. The renter should also ask the police officers attending the scene for the police file number. The renter must then consult with the officers present as to whether the vehicle may continue to be driven on the road or whether it must be recovered by a towing service. Note: Under no circumstances should the renter have an acknowledgement of guilt affixed. This could result in the loss of insurance cover.
12. What do I do if I find items from the previous tenant?
If the tenant finds lost property in the electric car, please hand it in at the Tourist Information Office. The staff at the tourist information office will then try to contact the previous tenant.
13. Can I smoke in the car?
Smoking is strictly prohibited in the car, even with the windows open. Should the tenant nevertheless smoke in the car, the landlord is entitled to charge the tenant €100 for non-compliance.
14. What must the car look like when it is returned?
The vehicle must be returned to the Ostseecampingplatz Fam. Heide in a clean and tidy condition at the end of the rental period.
15. Where can I find the nearest charging stations in the area?
You can obtain a list of the nearest charging stations in the area from the tourist information office.
16. What types of plugs are in the car box?
1) Charging cable for charging stations with alternating current (AC).
The maximum charging current is 16 amps or 32 amps
The alternating current is converted into direct current outside the vehicle.
A significantly higher charging capacity is achieved compared to AC charging.
2) Charging cable for mains sockets.
The charging cable limits the charging current according to the existing power supply. Depending on the specific mains sockets, the maximum charging current can be 6 A, 8 A or 10 A
